BIOGRAPHY

Having grown-up backstage due to his mother’s dancing school, a love for theatre, and in particular the technical aspects of theatre, was created. Richard went on to graduate with an Honours Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering followed by a PGCE in Physics, teaching GSCE and A-Level Physics and Electronics for 2 years.

A passion for ice skating led to winning the Skate Electric UK Junior Ice Dance Championships which jump-started an ice skating career with Walt Disney’s Work on Ice. After a year of skating professionally on a tour of the USA West Coast, Richard moved into production for WDWOI and travelled extensively for 7.5 years, putting ice skating shows a week at a time into the largest and most famous arenas in the World. Some of the better known names include the Budokan in Tokyo, the Sky Dome in Toronto, the Super Dome in New Orleans, the Kallang Centre in Singapore and Radio City Music Hall in New York City, plus many more.

The World’s largest live entertainment lighting manufacturer, Electronic Theatre Controls (ETC Inc) offered 2 years in New York City as Technical Support Engineer to the Broadway market. This was followed by a further 8 years in London as ETC’s Technical Service’s  Manager for their company expansion around the World, with 11 engineers in the department in London and 32 Authorised Service Centres across Europe.

Richard left ETC to set up his own lighting company, LAMBCO Lighting Ltd. while trading as MA Lighting UK. MA Lighting is the most extensively used lighting control manufacturer for the largest control lighting solutions in the World. Artists and events such as Ed Sheeran, Genesis, U2, the Olympics and Eurovision, to name a few.

After 14 years in the Corporate World, Richard focussed more towards Fringe Theatre, leaving the Corporate Meetings behind. Trading as LAMBCO Productions and creating productions in Fringe Theatre along with Technical Management and freelance lighting design.

LAMBCO Lighting still provides bespoke lighting designs for projects around the World, and tours in the UK. Some of the more interesting projects include roller coasters in the UAE, Bridges in Rotterdam and Doha, Riverwalk, the Opera House and the Dome in Dubai, and touring Cirque Enchantment, Skin Deep and the Jazz Dance Company in the UK.

In 2020, the Garden Theatre was setup in collaboration with Artistic Director, Peter Bull. Having created TGT in a popup beer garden in Vauxhall, it’s exciting times ahead as THE GARDEN THEATRE PRODUCTIONS Charity seek to deliver theatre, opera and dance in their own permanent venue. A welcome and exciting addition to the London theatre landscape.
